How to get the most out of your criminal lawyer

You have had the worst time ever with your lawyer. Perhaps you have been charged with a crime or are facing the prospect of spending time in jail. Perhaps you have a civil matter to deal with or a family member in jail.

Whatever the case may be, your criminal lawyer will do whatever he can to avoid going to trial. You may have the impression that he will offer you a plea deal. But while he is perfectly entitled to ask you to do so, don’t expect him to do so without the right to do so.

If you are innocent of whatever charges you face, you may feel reluctant to take a deal that would involve you serving time in jail. Your defence attorney in mississauga may be reluctant to offer you a deal because it would compromise his ability to try and get you a better result at trial. If you are guilty, then you may not be enthused about entering into a deal that would result in jail time for you. You may feel that you should get the maximum jail time you can as if you are facing a life sentence.

If you are innocent or guilty, then you are faced with the question of how to choose the right lawyer. You need a lawyer who will do his best to get you a good result at trial. But if you are not sure, you need a lawyer who will not only represent your interests but also your emotional interests.

If you are innocent and have been charged with a crime, you should be seeking a lawyer who will give you the best outcome at trial, while also doing everything in his power to get you the best possible result.

Some lawyers may use the emotion of the client to their advantage. They may tell you that you will not get a good result in a trial if you have an emotional reaction to the charge against you. They may try to get you to take a plea deal, in order to minimize the emotional damage.

Of course, not all criminal lawyers are the same. Some lawyers may try to get you to take a deal on the basis that they have a better chance of getting you a better result at trial.

But there are other lawyers who may not even consider getting you a better result at trial. These lawyers are more concerned with getting you a better result than they are with whether you get a better result.

No criminal lawyer should use unethical or unscrupulous practices. For example, some lawyers may tell their clients that they can get them a better result at trial if they use their services. This is known as a “soft” plea bargain.
